As a general rule, any rent amounts shown on our property listings exclude parking costs. If a property listing shows a parking feature is available, it means there is a space available to rent most likely at an additional cost. You can discuss that parking cost with your Host and once agreed, it will be added as a special clause in the rental contract.
Once you have signed your rental contract and moved in, you may need to register your contact details and vehicle details with building staff, or the local council. You may need to provide proof of residence, such as a copy of your rental contract, or utility bill. Only you as the property renter/vehicle user can make this application.
Any parking fines or penalties incurred in relation to your vehicle or parking space, are the liability of the vehicle user, and not the Owner of the rental property. You will need to make payment accordingly. If you have any questions or concerns about the legitimacy of the penalty, for example if you wish to dispute the fine, you will need to contact the authority who issued it. This could be a parking control company, building staff, or local council. Their details will be given on the penalty notice you have received detailing the cost you are being asked to pay.
Allocated parking bay
An exclusive space is reserved only for your registered vehicle, no one else is allowed to park there without your permission. The space will usually be labelled with a unique number or other code by the parking management authority.
Driveway
Usually found with houses, there will be an area in the front of the building, within your rental property’s boundary, where only you can park your vehicle. You will also be given the right to have clear access to take your vehicle in and out of that space, if any vehicle on the street is parked obstructing your driveway, it may be towed away and given a fine.
Private garage
A private covered area inside the building, usually attached to a house or block or flats, with a lockable door for extra security. Similar to a driveway, you have the right to clear access in front of. your garage, where no one else is allowed to park their vehicle if it obstructs your garage.
Right to Park permit
The property has a parking area which you are permitted to use but there is not an exclusive allocated parking bay with your property. You can park where available on a first come first serve basis.
On street permit from council
You are able to apply to the local council for a street parking permit, as a result of living in the property. The property does not have its own private parking facility.
